"I picked the wrong people to hang out with. I ended up being held hostage in the city. I have been to prison eight times. I tried to get clean a lot of times and it never worked. I was lost in my addiction doing heroin and meth both. I was homeless. I felt so lost. My grandson was born the day after Christmas and I was not around for it. I realized I didn’t have to continue like this. I did not want my grandson to see me as an addict. When I was in jail the last time, I asked God to take away my desire to use. That prayer changed things. I filled out an application for the Healing House. I realized I had no desire to use. He really answered my prayer. We have to put our way of thinking to the side. When you love Jesus, you don’t want to do things your way anymore. You want to please Him. You surrender your own will for His will. Without Him I wouldn’t have any of the good things in my life. If you feel hopeless, He can change that. If He can change me, He can change anyone. “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” Jeremiah 29:11.
