Jerome

“I was shooting dope.  I was in my early 20’s. My mother let me back in, and of course I went back to doing the same thing.  I didn't change.  She closed the doors on me and said ‘you cannot come back.’ With no other choice, I went to the Larry Rice, New Life Evangelistic Center.  They had the Word going seven days a week.  I noticed this guy there that had a light about him, he had given his life to Jesus Christ. You know, a seed was planted in my heart.  There was one particular group that came in on Friday. They used to talk about their wives, families, and their houses.  I wanted that so bad.  I was broken at this point. I just couldn't take it anymore.  A video came on and these young guys were singing ‘we work harder, harder, to be smarter, stepping into the light, stepping into the light’ (Listen). That's all I was hearing was ‘stepping into the light.’  The Lord said ‘I want you to name your ministry, Stepping Into The Light.  I'm going to give you a building big enough to house 25 men. You are to reconcile these men to Me.  I can set them free like I did you.’

It’s 1992 I’m a new convert. I’m a new baby saint and clean from drugs.  2 Corinthians 5:17 states ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.’  I graduated from the two-year program. I did three years. My walk today with Jesus is solid.  I'm walking with the Word. I'm walking in the Spirit. It's a daily walk. A six-family flat building was donated to Stepping Into The Light Ministry for one dollar.  She said ‘Jerome, I'll tell you what. Give me a dollar for the building.’ I went in this pocket, then that pocket, and even my back pockets. I looked at her and said ‘could you loan me a dollar?’ That woman started laughing so hard, she said ‘baby, I'll give you a dollar.’

Over 10,000 men have been reconciled to Jesus Christ through that building.  Give Jesus a shot. Like you gave the devil a shot, like you gave the game a shot, give Him a shot. See if He's real or not.  I know He is because He changed my life.  “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”  2 Timothy 1:7.
