Vicki

“I remember my dad had a gun and shot it in the ceiling. I felt God put his arms and protection around me. I was five. I was sexually abused by three men. Things I went through as a child affected me now. I can see how it made my adulthood dysfunctional but I always had God. I went through trauma therapy to recover. I was 9 years old smoking pot, nobody taking care of me, people taking care of my mom. My dad was drunk one night and my mom would not sign papers for my aunt to get custody of me.

I was a single mom, struggling. One time, the fire department came to tell me my boys set neighbor’s house on fire. It was a struggle-raising kids. I raised my three kids and my granddaughter the past seven years. I decided it was time for me to come to Columbus. I do see blessings. The amazing people I have met in past four months are a blessing. I see God’s hand in it. The housing situation is a struggle here. With Christ, all things are possible. There is hope and healing. You have to surrender in that. I remember calling on God at 10 years old. I felt God’s presence early. My name is Vicki and I surrender.”
