"My dad is not my blood father, but he is the one who took up the mantle when I was six years old. When he got together with my mom, he wasn't with the Lord. It's weird how what the enemy thought would work against me is exactly why I'm still with the Lord today.
I was raised knowing Jesus my whole life. I think I've always had, dare I say, the gift of faith—just knowing who Jesus was and knowing that He was there the whole time. I think I have a great understanding that we're human and we mess up all the time, like literally all the time. We all have a need for Jesus. The Lord has been consistent in helping me have grace and mercy for others and myself.
I got to physically see how Jesus says, "You will be a new creation, and you will have a renewing of your mind" (2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 12:2). I actually saw my dad walk that out. He went from not knowing the Lord at all to giving his heart to the Lord. He went from being immature in the Spirit to maturing in the Spirit. My dad matured into a Godly man, a Godly husband for my mom, and a Godly father to my younger siblings and to me. I said, "Thank You, Lord, for what You're doing in him." I think that's cool, seeing the Lord move in others and seeing how He could move in me.
He wants you! He loves you and chooses you. I'm chosen with all my brokenness. There's nothing you can do to earn that. There's no degree you can get; there's no amount of money you can have to buy that. There's not a lowest of the low you can hit that He can't reach. It's for everybody, no matter where you're at. I think that's what's cool: Jesus died whether we chose Him or not. I'm telling you the facts. The truth is, Jesus died for you.
I'm learning God cares about all the little things, as much as I try to minimize them. I've had friends literally give me their cars to borrow because my car wasn't working. It was such a stressor for me. I was physically getting ill because I was so stressed out. I have said, "Lord, I'm hungry, and I don't have money for dinner today," and then a teacher will show up and say, "Here is a meal," or, "Here are some groceries." The Lord will show up. In all of the amazing stories in the Bible, you remember they're all human, and they had their issues. I have issues, and God chooses me. Romans 5:8 says, "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." I'm Tanairis, aka Tana, I'm human, and I surrender.”
